What it is: A famous diet plan since the early 80’s, Jenny Craig’s weight loss centers have been recruiting women to become members and join the ranks of well-known clients like Kirstie Alley and Queen Latifah.

How it works: Dieters set up an introductory meeting where they fill out a health profile in order to determine if Jenny Craig is the right program. You then work one –on-one with a representative who helps you to create your personalized eating and exercise plan. Once your diet is underway, you will meet with a Jenny counselor once a week to help monitor your progress. Additional counseling and information is available to dieters on the website.

What you do:
As part of the personalized diet and exercise program, dieters eat pre-packaged Jenny Craig meals. The menus are customizable and meals can be delivered to your door, but the meals provide the plan’s required 1,200-1,300 daily calories. The Jenny meals fit into a low-fat diet and emphasize lean meat, fish, low-fat dairy, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

Benefits: Because dieters are working one-on-one with counselors, they receive lots of support to reach with their weight-loss goals. There are also many food options, and because Jenny supplies meals, dieters don’t have to worry about grocery shopping and cooking.

The Down Side: It may get tiresome for dieters to always be consuming the pre-packaged dinners, some of which they may not like. In addition, because you pay a membership fee and food costs, the diet may become expensive over a long period of time.
