Sweet Tips

  • Pick the most fragrant strawberries. Smell it before you buy it!
  • Make sure the stems are attached and still bright green.
  • Make sure all berries look ripe when you buy them-- they don't ripen any more once off the vine.
  • Never leave a moldy berry next to a fresh one. Mold spreads very quickly!

Storing Berries

  • First take out all the berries that are too soft or have visible mold.
  • Store them in an open container or colander so air can circulate. Do not cover them!
  • Wash the berries only right before you plan to use them.
  • Make sure berries don't soak up any excess water. Dry them thoroughly after washing or even use a salad spinner to remove excess water.
  • If stored properly, frozen strawberries can last up for one year.
