The Glycemic Impact Diet claims to maintain a balanced blood sugar level at all times, so that you have increased energy while losing weight without the sugar “highs” and “lows.”

What it is: The premise of Glycemic Impact Diet is that dramatic changes in blood sugar levels, caused by eating sugar but also many other surprising foods, leads to weight gain, irritability and other problems. The diet is especially directed at dieters who have particular sugar cravings or harsh mood swings.

How it works: The Glycemic Impact Diet provides foods that stabilize your blood sugar, meaning that you do not go from brief periods of high sugar and high energy to longer periods of low sugar and lethargy.

What you do: Practitioners do not eat any sugars, including those found in candy, chocolates or cookies. Practitioners manly eat unrefined complex carbohydrates, lean protein and healthy fats at every meal. Also, practitioners eat more often to maintain blood sugar levels.

Benefits: The diet gives you the proper nutritional balance, erases hunger pangs and your teeth will thank you for cutting out all the sugar.

Downside: Cutting out sugar requires a dedicated effort by dieters, because sugar shows up in the most unexpected of places, including in seasoning, salad dressings and sauces for savory dishes at restaurants.
