American Cowboy Coffee Cake

Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to get a taste of this all American classic. Saddle up for the best flavor ride of your life with this mighty fine coffee cake recipe!

Serves: 8

Cooking Time: 30 min

Ingredients
  • 2 (10 ounce) packages Pillsbury Grands reduced fat, golden wheat biscuits
  • 1/3 cup butter substitute
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter substitute
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar substitute
  • 2 tablespoons skim milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Melt butter substitute, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.  Mix well and set aside.
     
  3. In a one inch to two inch high pie plate, place all biscuits standing around plate.
     
  4. Place sugar nut mixture between each biscuit.
     
  5. Bake in oven 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
     
  6. While biscuits are baking, prepare topping. Mix butter substitute, confectioners' sugar substitute, skim milk, and almond extract together. Drizzle topping over biscuits while hot.  Serve warm.
